Setting Intentions

What is an “intention” or “setting an intention”?
I'm sure that you have seen different people practicing or advising the setting of intentions. Whether it be for the day, month, year, moment to moment, or action to action.
The Vedic text known as the Upanishads states:
“You are what your deepest desire is. As your desire is, so is your intention. As your intention is, so is your will. As your will is, so is your deed. As your deed is, so is your destiny.”
An intention is the first inkling of how you want to show up physically, mentally, and spiritually in preparation or actualization of any part of your journey. It is the tempo from which all action flows.
Let’s connect with an intention now. Find yourself in a comfortable position. Connect in with a few deep breaths. Place your hand on your heart center and close your eyes while asking yourself:
“What does my heart yearn for in this moment”?
My answer was peace and I set the intention to be consciously present in all that I do today in order to foster that sense of peace.
There are no right or wrong answers. Whichever thought or phrase came up for you initially, place it after the words “I set the intention...”
What intentions flowed through for you? I’d love to hear from you in the comments!
Yours in wellness and healing,
Angela
