What types of sessions are available to me?
Each appointment is specifically catered to your individual needs and a variety of approaches or one modality at a time may be used within each session. Currently, sessions are held online from the comfort of your own home or other destination that you prefer.

How long are typical sessions?
We usually start with 50-minute sessions. However, if we feel we regularly need more time, I will discuss what length of time is best suited for your individual needs.

How much do sessions cost, and do you take insurance?
Individual sessions are $185/hour. I offer a reduced rate of $150/hour for those who need additional financial assistance.
Some insurance companies will cover services as an out-of-network provider, in which case we can provide you with a “superbill” (detailed description of services provided) to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. I recommend you check with your insurance provider in advance to confirm out-of-network reimbursement and how it works.

How can I pay for my sessions?

I accept payment by credit card through Square, or by bank transfer through Zelle. Please be aware that paying through Square with a credit card will incur a 3.5% card processing fee. If you’d like to avoid the fee, you can pay directly from your bank account through Zelle. Most banks offer this service directly through their phone apps, or you can download the Zelle app. Please visit https://www.zellepay.com/ to learn more.
How often will we meet and how many sessions will I need?
Every client is unique, with different goals, availability, and rates of progress. We will work together to determine an appropriate session cadence that works for you, and we will regularly check in on progress. You are in charge of your healing journey and can decide when you’d like to stop sessions, pause sessions, or resume sessions (availability permitting).

How does the therapy process typically work?
It’s common to feel nervous about your first session. Keep in mind, you will never be forced to talk about anything you don’t want to, or to go at a pace you are uncomfortable with.
In the first session, we will mostly discuss your main concerns and goals, get a bit more information on some of your history, and talk about possible treatment approaches and next steps.
After that, I will cater each session to your specific needs. I focus on helping your nervous system find its way back to equilibrium, which often produces symptom relief without requiring an extensive retelling of stories.

Will you think I’m “crazy”, or judge me for what I tell you?
This is a common concern of those newly seeking mental healing services. I have gone through extensive training to learn how to address all sorts of issues, and have worked with a wide variety of clients. I like to tell my clients that there isn’t anything that you could potentially tell me that I haven’t heard already. My goal is always to help heal, never to judge. I am on your side, and I appreciate the courage it takes to be open and honest. We are all human, we all have challenges, we all have a wide range of emotions and thoughts, and we all need help and guidance from time to time. I am here to be a guide.

Will what I talk to you about remain confidential?
Information about what is discussed in your session is not shared with anyone without expressed written permission. There are some exceptions to confidentiality. If there is the real possibility of harm to self, or in cases of child or elder abuse, I am mandated to report information to ensure safety of those involved, and that you receive the most appropriate care.

Do you have evening/weekend appointments?
I have limited availability in the evenings and occasionally make myself available on weekends if a client is needing to get a session in and there is difficulty during their regular slot (schedule permitting).

What is your cancellation policy?
I have a 24-hour cancellation policy - if you cancel before 24 hours there is no charge for the session. If you cancel within 24 hours (non-emergency) there will be a charge of the full session rate. Additionally, if you are more than 15 minutes late to your session, we will need to reschedule and there will be a charge of the full session rate.

Do you prescribe medication?
I am trained to treat you using therapeutic approaches that can be very effective. I do not and cannot prescribe medication, however if at some point we feel a medication is warranted, I can refer you to a health professional who specializes in that area. If you are already taking medication, I can coordinate care with your doctor.

What if I have suicidal thoughts?
If you are concerned about your safety, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (available 24/7 and 365 days a year) at 800-273-TALK (8255). You can also text TALK to 741741. In an emergency, please call 911 (the appropriate emergency services number if you are outside the US) or drive to your nearest emergency room.
Some people feel uncomfortable discussing suicidal thoughts and this is very normal. Many people have experienced fear and/or shame surrounding this. Know that you are not alone. In fact, they can be a fairly common response to intense distress. We can work together to come up with a plan to make sure your wellbeing is taken care of.

How can I make the most of my therapy sessions?
Our goal is the same: your healing. The best thing you can do is show up, be active, honest, and open to the process. This is a collaborative relationship, and it’s important that you feel comfortable speaking up if something isn’t working for you and freely asking whatever questions may arise when needed. I am here for you and want the sessions to be best suited to your individual needs.
