Functional Medicine

When we’ve been going at things so hard for so long, it is only natural that the stressors begin to take a toll on our physical bodies.

We might start to notice this through feeling on edge in our systems.

We might notice becoming irritated by things that we wouldn’t normally be upset by.

We might notice our sleep patterns become disrupted.

We might notice ourselves checking out and being on auto-pilot in our day-to-day tasks.

There are many things that can happen that serve as road maps to point to the need to take a deeper look at ourselves.

One of the most important places to begin, in my opinion, is making sure that you are aware of what is actually going on with all of the various levels in your body.

I personally like to work with a functional medical doctor to see if I have anything off in my gut, with my hormones or inflammatory levels, with any vitamin or mineral deficiencies, and/or if there is anything going on with my adrenals or cortisol levels.

These are basic markers of health and well-being that your typical conventional doctor might not look deeply into.

If there are things off with these levels, you may feel mentally and physically worn down and/or on edge.

They contribute so much to your overall health and well-being.

If you are working with me or another mental health provider, and you seem to not be making any shifts in your healing despite all the work that you are doing - it is of the utmost importance that you look here.

Even if you are just beginning your healing journey, looking here while you get mental health sessions is super important so that your system has the care that it needs along the journey. You don’t want things to be working against you or harder than they need to be.
