Sleep Challenges

Have you been tossing and turning at night - having difficulty settling into a state of rest?
Maybe you are waking up in the middle of the night staring blankly at the wall or your phone just hoping that you may be able to get some additional hours in before your busy day tomorrow…
As you may be aware, sleep is crucial to our overall wellbeing, especially when it comes to mental health.
Some typical impacts of sleep deprivation include:
Increased anxiety
Feeling on edge
Lack of mental clarity
Systemic inflammation
Impaired immune function
Thankfully there are a lot of interventions that you can try to get your sleep on track.
In future newsletters, we will go through an example of a nighttime routine that may help to benefit the winding down process.
Some things to try in the meantime:
Blue light glasses after the sun goes down
Getting at least 10 minutes of sunlight before 11:00 am
Increasing your physical activity (yoga, tai chi, walks)
Trying specific meditation techniques before bed
I personally love listening to rain at night through Alexa by saying:
“Alexa, play rain sounds.”
Here is another option to try if you enjoy the sound of rain as well:
