Light Therapy for Winter Blues

Have you ever noticed feeling more worn down during dreary, cold, and rainy days?

The weather can have a definite impact on our overall well-being. There is even the term Seasonal Affective Disorder for individuals who are impacted during the change of seasons. The symptoms of which can carry over day to day and impact their mental state significantly.

One thing that we can do when we know that we will be experiencing cold and darker days, even before the time change in the fall, is to start implementing light therapy into our homes.

There are several devices that you can purchase off of Amazon or other retailers called light therapy lamps.

When looking into purchasing one of these devices, the most important thing is that they are measuring at or over 10,000 lux.

Some of the benefits of using this light therapy are:

  • Circadian rhythm regulation

  • Increased energy

  • Improved mental health and mood

  • Increased productivity
